Letter by Michael C. Polt, US Embassy Chargé d'Affaires, to Daniel L. Culler, 6 April 1995

Embassy of the United States of America

Bern, Switzerland
April 6, 1995

Mr. Daniel L. Culler
(Address omitted)

Dear Mr. Culler:

I was delighted to hear that the Swiss Embassy, including Abassador Jagmetti himself, are according the attention to your case which it so justly deserves. I am sure his trip to Phoenix to meet with you and apologize on behalf of Switzerland for the brutal mistreatment you received during World War Two meant a great deal to you and your family.

I understand that a Swiss Presidential Committee has been created to review your request for compensation. This alone is a strong indication of the seriousness with which they are taking this matter. The Swiss Foreign Ministry continues to be aware of the Embassy’s strong interest in your case.

I wish you continuing success in your efforts. The Ambassador and I look forward to meeting you and your wife during any future visit to Switzerland. Please let me know as soon as you have firm plans to come.

      Sincerely,

      Michael C. Polt
      Chargé d'Affaires, a.i.
